CALAM Coffee House Hour - Save the date!

Topic: Understanding On-Call Responsibilities Across Canadian Institutions

Date: Wednesday 28 January 2026

Time: 1:00-2:00pm ET

On-call responsibilities are a reality for many laboratory animal veterinarians, yet the structure, expectations, and supports in place can vary widely between institutions. This Coffee House discussion will offer a collegial space to share experiences and gain perspective on how on-call programs are organized across Canada.

We’ll explore themes including:

  • How responsibilities and after-hours tasks are allocated among veterinary and technical staff

  • Frequency of on-call rotations

  • Typical number of hours per month

  • Compensation models

  • Strategies and lessons learned to help reduce the impact of on-call duties on the remainder of the work week

Whether you’re currently part of an on-call rotation or looking to refine your program, we hope you’ll join us for an open and supportive conversation.
